Lonna J. Carter received her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law and her Master’s Degree in Public Health from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is a Commonwealth Scholar and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

While attending law school, Lonna served as a law clerk for the Honorable Nathaniel M. Gorton, United States District Judge for the District of Massachusetts and for the United States Attorney’s Office, Health Care Fraud Unit. She also clerked for a captive law firm for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and for a mid-size Boston area toxic tort litigation firm. Clerking for these firms, she gained experience working in asbestos litigation, insurance defense, and admiralty law.

As a graduate student, Lonna worked as a legal advocate for the American Chronic Pain Association, Arlington Chapter. She developed and studied a public health tool to assist members of the national organization. Her thesis work was entitled, "Developing Legislative Advocacy for People Living in Pain: Working with a Community Based Organization."

Prior to joining Governo Law Firm LLC, Lonna served as a legal contractor for the nation’s largest health care cost management firm. She analyzed health care cost management and network contracts among national providers and facilities.

At Governo Law Firm LLC, Lonna concentrates her work in the toxic tort practice group where she assists in the representation of leading industrial corporations in complex products liability litigation.

Lonna is an active member of the Women's Bar Association.

Lonna is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
