Governo Law Firm Attorneys Quoted on Payment Card Industry Data Breach Fines

6/20/2013

Governo Law Firm attorneys David A. Goldman and Corey M. Dennis were recently quoted in an article entitled "Genesco's lawsuit against Visa over fines could have far-reaching effects," which was published in The Tennessean, the principal daily newspaper in Nashville, Tennessee.

The article discusses a recent case, Genesco v. Visa, which is the first direct lawsuit against a credit card company fighting back against fines assessed by credit card companies under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards ("PCI DSS"). The case, filed in Tennessee federal court, challenges $13.3 million in PCI data breach fines levied against Genesco, but also could have a broader impact on the assessment of PCI fines generally.

Please contact David A. Goldman (dgoldman@governo.com) or Corey M. Dennis (cdennis@governo.com) for more information regarding the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards or data privacy and security generally.
