Property Loss Research Group Features Governo Law Firm Attorney on Data Security

Brendan Gaughan has been invited to speak at the Property Loss Research Group's (PLRG) Eastern Regional Adjusters Conference in Concord, North Carolina. The conference is a two-day educational program designed for claims professionals, third party administrators and adjusters working in the insurance industry or in litigation matters. It takes place on October 29th and 30th, 2013 at the Embassy Suites in Concord, North Carolina.

In his presentation, entitled "Security/Privacy Concerns for Claim Handlers," Mr. Gaughan will discuss:

  • the types of identity or information theft that are common in the insurance industry;
  • the federal and state data security laws, and their effects on claim handling strategies;
  • liability due to inadequate data security; and
  • regulatory penalties for non-compliance.
