Talc Litigation: The Next Asbestos Wave?

1/8/2016

Talc, used in a myriad of industrial and consumer applications, has emerged as a burgeoning area of litigation. Verdicts in the millions have been seen against companies that either mined talc or manufactured products with allegedly asbestos-contaminated talc. We are pleased to announced that Governo Law Firm Partner David Goldman is presenting on talc claims at the prestigious Claims & Litigation Management Alliance ("CLM") annual conference in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Goldman will explain the dynamics behind the recent growth of talc litigation, what defenses can and should be raised, and how counsel and insurance companies can work together to ensure the best possible defense of their clients and insureds. His panel will also discuss the science behind the allegations concerning asbestos-containing talc, the types of products potentially implicated, and recent verdicts. Insurance company representatives and counsel will greatly benefit from this presentation, which will illuminate why talc is emerging as a growing area of litigation and what steps can be taken to prevail in defending these suits.

Mr. Goldman's presentation will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. If you are a CLM member we hope you will make it to Orlando to participate in our round table discussion concerning this increasingly important area of litigation. If you are not a CLM member, please contact Mr. Goldman (dgoldman@governo.com) at 617.737.9267 if you would like additional information.
